As a sole trader, you and your business are the same legal person. Changing your personal name changes the name you trade under personally — but you can keep a separate trading or business name if you use one.
Personal name vs trading name
A sole trader can trade under their own name or a distinct business name. A personal name change updates the personal name on your records; a registered or chosen trading name can stay the same. Just make sure invoices and contracts show both clearly where required.
